A story that begins with “Once upon a time, a health care provider developed software to manage his/her practice…” is far from unique. But perhaps Karen wasn’t your typical doctor. By 1987, Dr. Walters had purchased a building down the block and now had 5 treatment rooms that were never empty. And even that was just a piece of the puzzle. The 1980’s and 90’s were littered with the detritus of abandoned practice management software projects. Horror stories abounded. Providers had a “friend” who was a programmer… or hired a programmer… or attempted to build their own…
These scenarios all highlighted the relative inexperience of those involved. Providers simply couldn’t afford the time or money to have someone with Mike’s experience design a system for them. And it was that combination that has kept ECLIPSE at the forefront for over 25 years while scores of competitors continue to come and go. In fact, every nationwide system that Karen looked at in 1984 is long gone. We’re proud to have kept users for decades. Very few companies can make that claim.
